 Glabrous trees, bark dark brown, smooth. Leaves simple, opposite, decussate; lamina linear-oblong, margin entire. Flowers bisexual, rose-coloured, showy, sessile in terminal cymes; sepals 4; petals 4; stamens numerous, polyadelphous; ovary superior, 2-loculed, ovules 2 in each cell. Fruit a capsule, obovoid-globose, woody.
